Forumm’s initial MVP lacked a clear user-centered design approach, resulting in a confusing experience. The main challenge was to create an intuitive and accessible interface for a diverse audience, including alumni and investors, while enhancing the platform’s ability to support virtual events and online fundraising.
I conducted extensive competitive benchmarking of similar platforms and proposed redesigns of the most critical screens. Once the direction was decided, I implemented a custom design system based on Material Design, optimizing accessibility and addressing its deficiencies.
Throughout the design process, I worked closely with end-users, iterating on prototypes based on their feedback. This allowed us to refine the design in real-time, ensuring the platform not only met accessibility standards but also aligned with the users’ real needs and expectations. These user-driven iterations led to a more intuitive and user-friendly platform .
The new design streamlined the user flow, making it easier for users to navigate between sections, such as event creation and fundraising tracking. The result was a more intuitive experience that reduced user friction.
We built an interactive fundraising dashboard, providing detailed metrics, progress tracking, donor comments, and interactive maps that show global support. This allows users to monitor and optimize their fundraising campaigns effectively.
The adaptation of Material Design into a custom design system focused on accessibility ensured that all users, regardless of limitations, could interact seamlessly with the platform.
The comprehensive redesign significantly improved the user experience by implementing clear navigation flows, intuitive screens, and space optimization for better efficiency. A cohesive design system was developed that adhered to high accessibility standards, ensuring that all users, regardless of their abilities, could interact effectively with the platform. The addition of visually appealing elements and a logical workflow allowed users to create events, donate, and manage projects smoothly and efficiently.
Forumm has had a positive impact on both alumni communities and educational institutions. The improvements in user experience and the inclusion of key features have made the platform a go-to tool for event management and fundraising in the education sector. Moving forward, the platform aims to expand its reach to more universities and schools across the UK, maintaining its commitment to accessibility and ease of use.
