We developed a custom-designed system for a change management platform at Accenture, intended to facilitate data visualization and insights for high-level employees. Built on the principles of atomic design, the system was integrated with Storybook to ensure consistency and scalability, laying the foundations for future token-based management to enable flexible customization.
The main challenge was to unify and standardize the interface and user experience for a change management platform for Accenture managers in Europe. There was an urgent need to create a consistent, adaptable and accessible design system that could be easily understood and used by different stakeholders, including designers and developers. The absence of a centralized, scalable structure led to inefficiencies in collaboration and hindered technology adoption.
We implemented from the ground up a custom design system based on atomic design principles, assuring modularity and flexibility. Storybook’s integration allowed for frictionless collaboration with developers, facilitating implementation and future customization. The system was designed with accessibility and compliance with Accenture’s identity standards in mind, ensuring that all design decisions were inclusive. In addition, training sessions were set up to teach Figma to both designers and developers, ensuring a smooth and cohesive transition. Design token foundation was implemented for future scalability of the project.

The design system greatly improved the user experience by providing a cohesive and accessible structure that enabled faster and more efficient workflows. The use of Atomic Design enabled intelligent use of the in the workflow and understanding of the platform’s components. In addition, the integration of Storybook simplified the management and implementation of changes, also optimizing the team’s time and efficiency.
To ensure smooth adoption of the design system, I led a series of video tutorials and online training sessions. These sessions helped the entire team, from designers to developers, understand the basic principles of a design system, how to use it effectively, and how to apply it to their projects within Accenture. As a result, the team gained a solid understanding of both the structure of the system and its application in their daily work. Below is a video illustrating part of the training process.
The global impact of CMP was greater efficiency and collaboration across Accenture’s multiple teams. The focus on accessibility and scalability ensured that the design system could continue to evolve and adapt to the future needs of the business. In the long term, the foundation laid for token management and modularity ensures that the design system will continue to support future digital transformation challenges.
